As the miners moved toward the Cooper Mines, so did the structures in Peale. By the early 1900's, entire houses, churches, and other structures had been hauled to different locations, many ending up in nearby Grassflat.
The last house to be removed was the Johnson Homestead, which sat along Prospect Avenue (now named Peale Road). This house was moved to Grassflat in the 1960's.
